Safeguarding our Elections
Central to the functioning of democracy is the safe, transparent running of elections. Delegate Brink has worked hard to protect the integrity of our electoral process. Protecting the Integrity of Voter Registration Drives
In 2005, Delegate Brink passed a bill that made destroying or other failure to deliver voter registrations a felony. It also requires voter registration drives to notify potential voters of the penalties for failing to deliver registrations.

Reforming Virginia's Provisional Ballots
Delegate Brink has sponsored legislation that made substantial changes in the provisional ballot process. If voters are not on the roll when they arrive to vote, they are allowed to cast a provisional ballot that will not be counted until an appeal is made to the local electoral board and the appellant is given time to make his case in person.

Training our Electoral Officials
Delegate Brink has sponsored legislation that requires that a least one member of the local electoral board and one person from the general registrar’s office attend an annual training program provided by the State Board of Elections. This measure ensures that local election officials are abreast of the numerous election procedures and requirements which are often modified by the General Assembly.

Expanding Access to Absentee Ballots
Delegate Brink has sponsored and voted consistently for legislation that would allow any voter to file an absentee ballot--making the process easier and allowing more people to vote who otherwise would be unable to.
